Balls of Brass began business in 1977. Since that time, we have expanded until we are today the #1 dealer for several of the importers of fine brass models. Part of the reason for this is our pricing structure. We are an off-retail (Okay, okay - discount!) dealer. Our pricing is structured to give the lowest price to customers who reserve a model with a deposit prior to its arrival. Our post-arrival prices are also well below suggested retail.

Our magazine, The Brass Buyer's Guide, is another reason for our strong sales. Produced entirely in-house, it presents, as no other publication, the news and dynamics of the brass industry. Written from first-hand experience gathered since 1968, it contains information available from no other sources. Models are reviewed in depth, usually in comparison to previously imported models of the same prototype. Importers are discussed frankly, as are the builders they use. No punches are pulled. Both as an analysis of investment potential, as well as an esthetic critique, no other publication covers brass model trains in-depth as does The Brass Buyer's Guide.
